Interview with Pierre-Yves McSween: New obligations for Quebec co-owners
Since the entry into force of the regulation implementing Bill 16, syndicates and co-owners must comply with new obligations: mandatory maintenance logbook, contingency fund study, and certificate on the state of the co-ownership. These new rules, aimed at strengthening transparency and the sustainability of buildings, profoundly transform the management of co-ownerships in Quebec.
To discuss this, Aline Desormeaux, CPA and founding partner of the accounting firm Désormeaux Patenaude Inc., also a member of the board of directors of the RGCQ, was invited by Pierre-Yves McSween on his program Sauve qui peut, broadcast on OhDio (Radio-Canada) on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
In this interview entitled “New Obligations for Quebec Co-Owners,” Ms. Desormeaux explained:
- The concrete impacts of Bill 16 on the finances of co-ownerships;
- The increased responsibilities of boards of directors;
- The consequences of non-compliance for co-owners.
A rich and accessible exchange that helps better understand this major turning point for the world of co-ownership.
